Texas Holdem
Texas Holdem or Holdem is the most popular game at most online poker sites. It is a community-card game, in which players make their best five-card hand from any combination of their own two private cards, and five shared community cards.
Order Of Play
- One player acts as dealer. This position is called the button and it rotates clockwise after every hand.The two players to the left of the dealer are the small blind and the big blind, respectively. They are the only players who have money in the pot before the cards are dealt.Each player is dealt two hole cards, face-down. (Online your hole cards will appear face-up on your screen, but no one else can see them.)
- The first betting round begins with the player sitting immediately to the left of the big blind, and continues clockwise.
- Three cards, “the flop”, are dealt face-up to the center of the table. These are community cards that all players use in making their hands.
- The second round of betting begins with the first remaining player seated to the left of the button. The betting resumes, clockwise.
- A fourth community card, “the turn”, is dealt face-up to the center of the table.
- The third round of betting commences with the first remaining player sitting to the left of the button. The betting moves clockwise, with the bets doubling on the turn.
- A fifth community card, “the river”, is dealt face-up to the center of the table.
- The fourth round of betting starts with the first remaining player seated to the left of the button. The betting continues to move clockwise.
The best five-card hand wins the pot. A five-card hand may be composed of two hole and three community cards, one hole and four community cards, or the five community cards themselves.
If multiple players show the identical best hand, the pot is split evenly between those players.
